This SOTXJATC apprenticeship program is not for everyone. Do you have what it takes?

Since 1946, we’ve demonstrated a commitment to excellence, quality and safety. Our comprehensive “earn while you learn” apprenticeship program gives apprentices a variety of high-paying career paths — no prior experience necessary. Plus, you’ll turn out with no student loans or debt. This type of opportunity isn’t gifted to just anybody! You must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered and participate:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 17 years old to apply, 18 years old to participate
  • Must provide valid Driver's License
  • Must provide certified birth certificate and/or Social Security Card
  • Must be a high school graduate, GED program graduate, or college degree.
  • Must have Algebra 1 Level Math credit or complete ETA Tech Math course.
  • Must be able to work legally in the U.S.
  • Must be capable of completing all requirements of the apprenticeship program
  • Must be capable of performing the work required of a technologies worker, to include:
  1. Learn to safety perform essential job functions
  2. Safely execute the performace of essential job junctions
  3. Report to job sites anywhere in the geographical jurisdiction
  4. Attend and pass all related instruction
  5. Understand and follow all JATC Rules and Policies
  6. Push, pull, crawl, crouch, and
  7. Climb and work from ladders, scaffold, poles, and towers of various heights, and
  8. Work in confined spaces suchas as attics, manholes, crawlspaces
  9. Lift objects 25-50 pounds with repetition 
  10. Use various hand and power tools to install conduit, wiring, fixtures, devices and electrical apparatus
  11. Read, hear, speak and understand instructions and warnings in English
  12. PASS DRUG TEST

Documents needed to verify the minimum requirements are, but not limited to:

  1. Valid driver’s license or state issued photo ID
  2. Certified copy of your birth certificate and/or Social Security Card
  3. Official copy of your high school transcript showing successful completion of Algebra I
  4. Diploma, Transcript, or GED showing High School graduation or equivalent 
  5. Form DD214 (military veterans only)

 

Technician Training

The Telecommunication and Technologies program is a rigorous 3-year commitment that gives apprentices the knowledge and skills they need to install electrical networks and cabling systems for video, voice, data, fire alarms and other low voltage signals. New construction and office spaces are among the jobsites you’ll find yourself on. As you build your skills and advance your career, your earning potential grows.

Program Highlights:

Minimum of 6,000 hours on-the-job

Minimum of 528 classroom hours
